Im’ possible Tour 2 July 2017 – “The world’s toughest solo fundraising ride”.
French Alps 1800km, 96 hours non-stop over 40 mountains. Hypothermia due to freezing temperatures and gale force winds forced me to abandon my attempt after only 409km and 20hours 16min of riding on the summit of the Col du Glandon. Still managed to raise almost a quarter of a million Rand for the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation.
Im’possible Tour III. 2 August 2016 – Cannes to Les Saisies; 962km in 46hrs17min over 20 mountains and 19,410m elevation gain.
- Col de la Croix de Fer, 410km covered
- Almost 900 km covered, fighting the pain and exhaustion
- Night one 3am on the summit of Col de Vars
- Day 2 riding into the sunset after some 30+ hours and over 600kms covered
- Col des Saisies 950km 11 km to go. 45hr20 Giving it everything
- Col de la Croaix de Fer day 2 after some 440km. Approaching halfway mark and a long way to go
- Focus, concentration, supported by Mercedes-Benz. The best or nothing

- Tour de France support car! Felt like a pro
- Descending the very dangerous Col du Glandon just before sunrise
- Climbing the difficult Col de Chaussy, 240km covered, 178km to go
- Just after midnight, 10km to the summit at 2770m
- 1.30am. Almost at the summit of the Col de L’Iseran at 2770m!
- The 22km Cormet de Roselend climb. 2hrs done, 18 hrs to go. Feeling good
- Descending off the Col du Glandon at 6am, having ridden through the night. 100% concentration and commitment
- Climbing the Col du Mollard at 3.30 am, feeling strong
- Approaching the summit of the 22km Col de le Madeleine at 2000m. Suffering terribly, my nephew Sean running next to me encouraging me to keep fighting
- Col de Chaussy, as difficult and brutal as it is beautiful
- Approaching the summit of the Col de la Croix de Fer just before sunrise. A very tough end to the night
- Climbing through a tunnel from Bourg St Maurice to Val d’Isere at 10pm
- 2km to go to the summit finish at Les Saisies. No giving up, ignoring the pain in my shoulder and rest of my body.

- Summit of Col du Chaussy with Sean running next to me. my darkest time during the entire challenge. Hardly remember this I suffered so much
- Descending off the Col de L’Iseran at 2 am
- Getting serious. 1.40am, ready to descend for 30km into the dark from 2770m. Very dangerous

Fighting the gradient and the pain up the 22km Monte Bondone to the finish line for my biggest victory ever on a bike! 20 July 2014.

365 days later, sitting at the spot where I died on 21713. Overcoming, closure, moving on. Tomorrow I will race past here, victorious!
